Device Management
Boottify tracks the devices you use to sign in and lets you manage them from your security settings. Each device is identified by a unique fingerprint based on your browser, operating system, and language settings.
Viewing Your Devices
To see all devices associated with your account:
- Go to Settings > Security in the Control Center.
- Scroll to the Registered Devices section.
- You'll see a list of all devices with their name, type, and last active date.
Each device shows a smart nickname like "Windows Hello", "Touch ID (Mac)", or "Face ID (iPhone)" based on the authentication method used.
WebAuthn / Passkeys
WebAuthn (also known as passkeys) lets you sign in using biometric authentication built into your device:
- Windows Hello — Fingerprint reader or facial recognition on Windows
- Touch ID — Fingerprint sensor on Mac laptops
- Face ID — Facial recognition on iPhone and iPad
- Android Biometrics — Fingerprint or face unlock on Android devices
Registering a New Credential
To add biometric authentication:
- Navigate to Settings > Security.
- Click Register Biometric (or Add Passkey).
- Follow your browser's prompt to scan your fingerprint or face.
- The credential is stored securely and linked to your account.
Removing a Device
If you lose a device or want to revoke access:
- Go to Settings > Security > Registered Devices.
- Click the Remove button next to the device you want to unlink.
- Confirm the removal. The device will no longer be able to use biometric sign-in for your account.
Cross-Platform Support
Boottify supports WebAuthn credentials across all subdomains. A credential registered on control.boottify.com will also work on boottify.com and any other subdomain. This is possible because the platform uses the apex domain (boottify.com) as the WebAuthn Relying Party ID.
Session Binding
When you sign in with a biometric credential, your session is bound to the specific device. This means you can see which device each active session belongs to in the Active Sessions panel, and revoke sessions on a per-device basis.
